Before writing it, please check the pages adjacent to this one, read about the series, and consider the books that have already been appeared in the series. We encourage you to look at those books as a way of familiarizing yourself with the kind of work we are most interested in. Send your abstract to jim.wilce@nau.edu.

GUIDE FOR SUBMITTING BOOK ABSTRACTS

Here is what we invite you to submit:

A 2-3 paragraph overview of the project (In this section and throughout, we urge you to say what you have to say rather than telling us “I will discuss x…”)

A brief example of your analytic approach (e.g., a chapter or chapter section highlighting your particular analytic approach to discourse)

A tentative Table of Contents with chapter overviews

A paragraph or two explaining how you got involved in this work/why you are writing this book 

A discussion of intended audience (be very careful not to claim that your book will be all things to all people). You should have a primary audience in mind (even if the book is written accessibly, as we will require that it be).

Some statement about whether the book would have any potential for classroom use. If so, at what level and in what classes?

Competition analysis (compare & contrast with available books)

A brief bio (150 words or so)

A statement of how long you estimate the book will take to complete, together with a clear statement of how far you are along, whether there are any chapters ready, etc. In the case of a first book, please tell us about revising dissertation chapters, keeping in mind the important difference between the two genres.

If we take our discussions to another stage, we will want to see the Introduction plus one of your analytic chapters.
